THE SECRET OF PYREX GLASS®
THE SECRET OF PYREX GLASS®
Tempered borosilicate glass
Pyrex glass® is unique. It is tempered borosilicate glass of superior quality and high resistance to thermal and mechanical shock. It is perfectly suited to extreme temperatures, from -40° to 300°, and is highly resistant to thermal shock of up to 220°.
All® Pyrex glass products can be safely used in the oven, freezer and vice versa. They defy all culinary expectations, from preparation to direct service, including the entire cooking, storage and reheating process.
The Pyrex glass recipe®
Pyrex glass® is composed of pure sand (80%), soda ash (4%), alumina (2.5%) and boron (13%). This mixture is melted in a glass furnace at a temperature of around 1500°C. It then rapidly transforms into a kind of transparent lava that can be quite dazzling - we can only observe it from a distance through a special screen used only by glassblowers. In the furnace, the material is then "refined" to eliminate any CO2 bubbles released during melting.
