Having storage containers at home is always very practical because they have many uses. Compact and easy to store, they will allow you to store and transport food easily, without it coming into contact with air or possible bacteria. Do you like to bring something to eat when you are invited, or take something to eat for lunch later? Then our takeaway boxes are made for you. Available in rectangular, square or round versions, they are airtight and resistant to extreme temperatures, so they can go from the freezer to the oven* without any problem.

Storage boxes for reheating

Rather than using plastic containers that stain easily or reheating a dish plate by plate, you can use one of our reheating boxes. This type ofmicrowave safe tin can, in the oven*, freezer and dishwasher without ever getting damaged, thanks to the Pyrex® borosilicate glass used in its manufacture. The steam valves on its lid are also perfectly suited to microwave cooking.

Glass storage boxes

What size should you choose for your storage boxes?

Pyrex® storage containers are often available in 3 or 4 different sizes so that everyone can choose the model that suits them best. The ideal is to have several containers of each size at your disposal to be able to store and reheat all your dishes, whether it is an individual meal or a family dish.

What shape of storage boxes should you choose?

Storage containers can be round, rectangular or even square depending on the model chosen. If it is not important from a taste and quality point of view, we advise you to opt for containers that are easy to store in the refrigerator and freezer. If you do not have a lot of space, opt instead for square or rectangular containers.

What material should you choose for your storage boxes?

At Pyrex®, we only offer you borosilicate glass storage containers because it has many advantages, but you can also find plastic or metal containers in stores.

Glass storage boxes

If we have chosen to focus on Pyrex® borosilicate glass storage containers, it is because this material is particularly advantageous. Very robust, it resists shocks as well as temperature changes and is dishwasher safe. Likewise, it is easy to clean and does not retain odors or stains.

Plastic storage boxes

Plastic storage containers are popular because they are inexpensive, however, they are also the least durable. After a few uses, plastic becomes deformed, discolored, stained or retains an unpleasant odor that alters the flavor of the food. It also does not support being put in the oven, and not always in the microwave.

Metal storage boxes

Less common, metal storage containers are rarely used because it is a material that is not microwave safe, and does not always appreciate the freezer and dishwasher. It also tends to scratch easily, can oxidize and give an unpleasant metallic taste to food.

How do you know if a box is airtight?

A container is airtight if its lid allows it to be closed without air being able to enter or exit. Most airtight container lids are made of plastic or include a flexible plastic strip that allows the container to be completely closed.
